December Jobless Rates Down Around Northern Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS – Jobless rates went down around Northern Indiana from November to December.

Information released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development shows that LaGrange County had the largest drop over the month in the area, going from 2.5% to an even 2%, which is a half a percent decrease.

Both Noble and Elkhart Counties dropped three-tenths of a percent, with both going from 2.8% in November to 2.5% in December.

DeKalb County also dropped three-tenths of a percent, from 2.3% to 2%.

Steuben County went down slightly from 2% to 1.9%. That’s a decrease of one-tenth of a percent.

Looking at cities in Northern Indiana, Elkhart went from 3.9% unemployment to 3.3%. That’s a drop of sixth-tenths of a percent from November to December.
Goshen saw no change, with their unemployment rate staying at 2.9%.

The Statewide jobless rate went from 2.9% in November to 2.3% in December. That’s a decrease of six-tenths of a percent. Indiana’s jobless rate is better than the National jobless rate which was at 3.3% for December.
