COLDWATER, Mich. – Sentence has been handed down to a Coldwater woman for shooting her daughter over a year ago.
Branch County Circuit Court officials say that 65 year old Kathleen Rowe was sentenced to between 8 and 22 years on Tuesday on felony charges of discharging a firearm in a building causing serious impairment; felony firearm; assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and felonious assault.
Rowe was arrested following an incident on January 26, 2023 at a home in the 500 block of Pamela Drive she shared with her daughter, 33-yearold Kacey Stringer. Rowe says she shot Stringer in the abdomen, out of self-defense, and that she was tired of Stringer’s physical and mental abuse.
Stringer told deputies there had been an argument between her and Rowe, but nothing physical had happened.
Rowe plead not guilty to the charges. A plea agreement was presented in October 2023, but Rowe rejected it.
