MICHIGAN – U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg visited parts of the Fifth District that were damaged by last week’s storms on Friday
After visiting St. Joseph, Branch, Cass and Berrien Counties, the Republican lawmaker said his office has been working with officials on the ground to do everything they can to assist. He says he has been assessing damage with officials and is attentive to their needs as they continue with debris removal and damage assessments.
Walberg says if you or someone you know is in need of assistance, reach out to local organizations for assistance, or guidance in finding the help you or someone needs.
A reminder, Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency of St. Joseph, Branch, Cass and Kalamazoo Counties following the storms that moved through West Michigan Tuesday.
By declaring a state of emergency, Whitmer has made available all state resources in cooperation with local response and recovery efforts in the designated area. The declaration authorizes the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD) to coordinate state efforts above and beyond what MSP/EMHSD has already been doing in conjunction with local agencies.
