OHIO - Recreational marijuana sales could be available to customers 21 and over by mid-June.
Although the recreational marijuana use has been legal for Ohio residents since the end of 2023, the legal purchase for those without a LINKA has been delayed.
On November 7, 2023, Ohio became the 24th state to legalize adult-use cannabis with 57 percent of voters voting in favor of Issue 2, also known as An Act to Control and Regulate Adult Use Cannabis.
Ohio residents 21 and over were immediately able to buy and possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis and to grow up to six plants per individual or 12 plants per household at home, but they had nowhere to legally buy in the Buckeye state.
According to the LINKB the, "Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review allowed rules to proceed without objection that clear the way for a dual licensing program that will allow existing medical marijuana dispensaries to also sell non-medical pot products."
"Jim Canepa, superintendent of the Division of Cannabis Control, said applications will be available by no later than June 7."
Canepa expects most of Ohio’s existing medical dispensaries will apply to be dual licensees, allowing them to sell both medical and recreational product
