(LANSING) – April’s jobless rates were down around Southern Michigan from March.
The State of Michigan’s Department of Technology, Management and Budget says that St. Joseph County’s jobless rate dropped from 3.9% to 3.8%, down one-tenth of a percent.
The biggest drop for the month was in Hillsdale County, which went down from 4.3% to 3.9%, which is a decrease of four-tenths of a percent.
Branch County went down from 3.6% to 3.4%. That’s a two-tenths of a percent decrease. Cass County saw their jobless rate go down from 4.2% to an even 4%. That’s a drop of two-tenths of a percent.
The statewide unemployment rate went down from a March figure of 3.9% to 3.8% in April.
Wayne Rourke, the Labor Market Information Director for the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics says Michigan’s regional labor markets not only saw unemployment rates decline in April, but also labor force, employment and unemployment in a majority of areas around the State.
