(UNDATED) – A two vehicle collision sent two people to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, 22 year old William Berning of Garrett was driving south on County Road 327 at 6:50 AM Wednesday, and was struck by another vehicle, driven by 23 year old Jeremiah Hildebrandt of Avilla. Hildebrandt was at the stop sign at County Road 60 and pulled into the path of Berning.
Hildebrandt told deputies he had stopped at the stop sign on County Road 60 and then proceeded to cross County Road 327 when the accident happened.
Hildebrandt was given a citation for failure to yield and for driving with an expired registration.
Berning had some right hand pain, while his passenger, 44 year old Steven Berning, had right arm pain and a cut on the forehead. They were taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.
Assisting deputies were the Avilla Fire Department and the Parkview DeKalb EMS.
