(LANSING) – The State of Michigan saw their adjusted unemployment rate go up slightly from May to June.
Data released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget shows the State’s unemployment rate increased from 3.9% in May to 4.1% in June. Employment receded by 9,000 over the month, while unemployment rose by 8,000.
Slight increases were reported in Professional and Business Services (+0.4%) and Private Education and Health Services (+0.3%). Seven other employment sectors saw no increase over the month.
Wayne Rourke, Labor Market Information Director for the Michigan Center For Data And Analytics says Michigan’s unemployment rate went up for the first time in 2024 from May to June. In addition, the State’s 4.1% unemployment rate equaled the National rate.
