(UNDATED) – Storms that moved through Southern Michigan and Northern Indiana late Tuesday afternoon produced four tornadoes.
The National Weather Service conducted their storm survey on Wednesday. They determined that three of the tornadoes happened in Northern Indiana. An EF-1 tornado was reported in LaGrange County and another EF-1 tornado struck Noble County. Winds from the LaGrange County twister topped out at 95 MPH while the Noble County tornado had a top speed of 105 MPH.
Authorities say the Noble County tornado started just east of Engle Lake, did damage to some houses and barns as is crossed U.S. 6 before ending just before the Noble-LaGrange County Line.
The storm intensified again and a tornado dropped down near the intersection of County Roads 300 South and 300 East in LaGrange County, knocking down trees and damaging buildings. Authorities say that two people suffered minor injures after a horse and buggy tipped over due to the storm. In addition, the storm also caused 28,000 chickens from a food processing company to get loose.
A third tornado in Northern Indiana was confirmed in St. Joseph County with speeds of 70 MPH.
The National Weather Service says that a tornado was also reported near Camden, Michigan in Hillsdale County. It was rated as an EF-0 with a peak wind speed of 65 MPH. It was on the ground for one minute and damaged some barns.
