DNR Issues Boating Restrictions On NE Indiana Lakes
Wednesday, April 9, 2025

(UNDATED) – Boating restrictions have been issued for some lakes in Northeast Indiana due to high water.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says a motorized watercraft operation restriction is in place for the Indian Lakes Chain of Lakes in LaGrange County. That consists of Dallas, Whitmer, Hackenberg, Westler and Messick Lakes.

In Noble County, idle speed restriction on motorized watercraft has been issued for Sylvan Lake. Additionally, a motorized watercraft operation restriction is in place for the West Lake Chain of Lakes, which includes Waldron, Steinbarger, Tamarack and Jones Lakes.

The DNR says the boating restrictions are put into effect when surface water conditions are likely to flood homes and other structures as a result of a wake.
