(INDIANAPOLIS) – The State of Indiana has passed a bill that makes it illegal to advertise marijuana based businesses on billboards.
The bill was added to a bill dealing with Bureau of Motor Vehicle rules.
The bill applies to outdoor advertising and flyers that are mailed to Indiana residents from marijuana dispensaries. However, current contracts for advertising marijuana are not affected. Once those contracts expire, the marijuana billboards will no longer be allowed.
Several current billboards in northern Indiana feature advertisements for marijuana businesses in Michigan where marijuana is legal.
