(ANGOLA) – An alleged threat made regarding the safety of Angola has been found to be not credible.
Angola Police Chief Ken Whitmire says his department was notified Friday morning by the FBI that there was a vague threat made to an Angola School. The threat was investigated by the FBI and then handed over to the Angola Police early this morning.
Whitmire says his department took the threat seriously, and immediately called in all available officers and detectives and began investigating the threat and protecting the schools.
The individual that posted the threat was located and was in police custody prior to the start of the school day. The threat was found to be not credible and no weapons were ever located.
There have been no additional threats to Angola Schools.
Out of abundance of caution, Whitmire says his department will have additional officers walking through the Angola Schools.
