(AUBURN) - Dave Yarde was re-elected president of the DeKalb County Council during Wednesday's reorganization meeting, continuing in the leadership role he has held since 2024. William VanWye was again chosen as vice president, and Don Stuckey will remain council attorney.
Council members also approved several routine actions, including transferring nearly $396,000 into the county's rainy day fund and making appointments to local boards and commissions.
Commissioners provided updates on several ongoing issues, including the formation of a committee to study future options for the former Sunny Meadows county home and clarification that the county's code enforcement officer works part-time and responds only to resident complaints.
The council also heard a report from the DeKalb County Airport Authority outlining future runway work expected to temporarily close the airport in 2027, along with updates on new hangar construction, equipment purchases and overall airport activity.
