(SOUTH BEND) - A Michiana man who admitted to making violent threats against President Donald Trump on social media will not serve additional prison time.

Douglas Thrams, 24, of Milford, was sentenced Thursday in federal court to time served, followed by two years of supervised release. Court records indicate Thrams had already spent 10 months and 14 days in federal custody.

Thrams was arrested in January 2025 after people in another state reported threatening social media posts to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He later pleaded guilty to federal charges in August.

According to court documents, Thrams posted multiple videos to his TikTok account in which he promoted violence against government institutions and political leaders. Investigators said some videos included statements advocating the bombing of government buildings and the assassination of politicians.

In one video cited by federal authorities, Thrams said President Trump needed to be killed, referencing the 2024 assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. The FBI determined the statements constituted direct threats, prompting a federal investigation.

Prosecutors did not request additional prison time beyond what Thrams had already served. As part of the sentence, he will remain under federal supervision for two years.

The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted in federal court.
