(NOBLE COUNTY) - A truck sank through the ice at Chain O' Lakes early Saturday morning, prompting a police response and leading to an arrest.
Officers were called around 2:45 a.m. to the 26000 block of Southport Drive after a truck was driven onto the frozen lake and began sinking. Authorities said two people were seen walking away from the vehicle before police arrived.
Officers entered the icy water wearing dive gear and located the submerged truck. Police later confirmed no one was inside the vehicle.
Following the investigation, a 52-year-old man was located and arrested on a preliminary charge of criminal recklessness. The case has been forwarded to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office for review and possible formal charges.
The incident remains under investigation.
