(ANGOLA) - Gas prices are climbing across the Angola area, with some stations now nearing the five-dollar mark.
A check of local pumps shows regular gas generally ranging from $4.50 to $4.99 per gallon. Diesel prices are higher, reaching $5.99 at some locations.
Across northeast Indiana, prices are tracking in that same upper $4 range as stations adjust to rising wholesale costs.
In northwest Ohio, prices are moving up at a similar pace, with many stations now in the mid-to-upper $4 range.
To the north, Michigan gas prices are also rising, with several stations in Coldwater reporting around $4.75 per gallon.
The spike follows an outage at the BP Whiting refinery in northwest Indiana, a major fuel supplier for the Great Lakes region. The disruption has reduced gasoline output and pushed wholesale prices higher, which are now reaching local stations.
Additional pressure is coming from seasonal refinery maintenance and rising crude oil prices tied to ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Because stations receive fuel shipments at different times, prices can vary significantly from one location to another.
Analysts say prices could continue to fluctuate in the short term. A quicker restart at the refinery could ease pressure, but a longer outage would likely keep prices elevated across Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
