(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita has filed a lawsuit against Roblox and Discord over alleged child safety failures on the platforms.

The lawsuit alleges the companies failed to provide adequate protections against online predators targeting children.

According to Rokita's office, the lawsuit was prompted in part by the case of 17-year-old Hailey Buzbee, who investigators say interacted with a man through Roblox and Discord before her disappearance and death earlier this year.

The lawsuit claims the platforms violated Indiana's Deceptive Consumer Sales Act by allegedly misrepresenting safety protections and failing to properly warn parents about risks involving objectionable content and online predators.

Rokita is seeking civil penalties and reimbursement of investigative costs through the lawsuit.
