(ANGOLA) - A Coldwater man is in Steuben County Jail after police say he led officers on a chase from Michigan into Indiana before crashing twice near Fremont.
Indiana State Police say 21-year-old Jefferson Ridgway fled from Branch County deputies Saturday night and crossed the state line into Steuben County.
Investigators say Ridgway struck a garbage container during the pursuit, causing damage to another vehicle, before crashing a second time near County Road 700 North. Troopers took him into custody after the second crash disabled the vehicle.
Ridgway was booked into the Steuben County Jail on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and leaving the scene of a property-damage crash.
Additional charges are expected in Michigan.
