(FORT WAYNE) - Indiana State Police troopers from the Fort Wayne Post were out in full force over the Thanksgiving holiday, logging a busy week of targeted patrols across the 11-county district, including Steuben, DeKalb, and LaGrange Counties.
The effort kicked off Monday, November 24th, with a one-day blitz on reckless driving. Troopers issued 40 tickets and 37 warnings, stopped six drivers with suspended licenses, and found one driver who had never been licensed at all. They also arrested a wanted person and investigated a crash.
A second wave of patrols ran Wednesday through Friday, focused on catching impaired and dangerous drivers. During that three-day stretch, troopers wrote 32 more tickets, issued 133 warnings, and made 12 drug-related arrests. They also arrested one habitual traffic violator, one wanted driver, and one person for OWI.
Winter weather made the final weekend even busier. Between Saturday and Sunday, ISP responded to 28 crashes, 23 slide-offs, and assisted 17 stranded or abandoned vehicles across the region.
State Police leaders thanked troopers for sacrificing holiday time with their families to keep Hoosier drivers safe during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
