(ANGOLA) - Angola's newest park will officially open Saturday with a ribbon cutting ceremony and community celebration at Sheets Family Park on Williams Street.

The ribbon cutting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at the park, located at 1605 Williams Street. Activities are planned from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The new park includes a splash pad, pickleball courts, an inclusive playground, picnic pavilion and community gathering space. The facility will be open daily from sunrise to sunset during the summer season from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Organizers say Saturday's celebration will include pickleball lessons, a DJ, a wandering magician, a 360-degree photo booth, food trucks and fire trucks.

Traveling Tom's Coffee, Scoops Ice Cream, Ed's Fish and Broomsticks & Brews are all expected to participate. Mr. Meatz butcher shop also donated hamburgers and hotdogs for the event.

Steuben County Trails and Bike & Soul plan to hold a free bicycle giveaway every hour during the celebration. Other organizations are also expected to offer displays and door prizes.

Angola Parks and Recreation Superintendent Matt Hanna says the park's splash pad, pickleball courts and inclusive playground were among the top requests identified through community surveys connected to the department's five-year planning process.

The park sits on 4.12 acres donated by Charles "Chuck" Sheets along the Angola Pedestrian Trail near the YMCA of Steuben County. Officials say the park also serves as part of the 7.4-mile biking and walking trail connecting Commons Park and Pokagon State Park.
