(FORT WAYNE) - Fort Wayne International Airport is looking for artists to help create a large-scale artwork for its nearly completed baggage claim expansion.
Airport officials said the project will transform a blank wall and ceiling area in the east terminal's new baggage claim space into a three-dimensional art installation.
The Fort Wayne Airport Authority has committed $200,000 toward the project and is now accepting submissions from interested artists.
Airport CEO Scott Henderson said officials are seeking artwork that is welcoming, long-lasting and reflective of Fort Wayne, while allowing artists the freedom to bring their own vision to the project.
The airport has opened a request for qualifications process through its website. Complete submissions are due by 4 p.m. on July 17.
The baggage claim expansion is nearing completion after five years of construction.
