(ANGOLA) - Angola drivers should plan for temporary road closures during the city's Independence Day Parade.

The City of Angola and Angola Police Department say several roads will be closed to help keep the parade route safe.

Concrete barricades will begin going up at 7 a.m. on July 4.

Barricades will be placed at:

North Elizabeth Street and Maumee Street, South Elizabeth Street and Maumee Street, South West Street and Maumee Street, South Superior Street and Maumee Street, South Darling Street and Maumee Street, East Gale Street and Wayne Street, and West South Street and Wayne Street.

The barricades will remain in place until parade cleanup is complete, approximately one hour after the parade ends.

Parade Route Closures - The normal parade route will be put in place at 10:30 a.m. and will remain in place until the parade ends.

During that time, Maumee Street will be closed from Kinney Street east to Martha Street.

Wayne Street will be closed from Gilmore Street south to Park Avenue.

Suggested Detour: Drivers traveling through the southwest quadrant of Angola between 7 a.m. and approximately 1:30 p.m. are encouraged to use Summit Street to Thunder Drive or South Wayne Street to Park Avenue. City officials are asking drivers to allow extra travel time and use alternate routes to avoid delays during the parade and cleanup.
