(COLDWATER) - A Dunkin' Donuts is planned for the former Advance Auto Parts location in Coldwater.
The Coldwater Planning Commission has approved plans for the coffee and pastry shop at 515 East Chicago Street.
Engineer Matt Cole represented the applicant and told commissioners Dunkin' will use about one-third of the remodeled 6,700-square-foot building.
The rest of the building will be available for future retail tenants.
Plans call for a dedicated drive-thru lane along the west side of the property, along with parking changes.
City officials raised some traffic and safety concerns during the review, especially for eastbound drivers trying to make left turns into the property from U.S. 12.
Developers agreed to add directional signs, pavement markings and a "No Left Turn" visual indicator to guide drive-thru traffic toward Teeter Drive and reduce congestion on the highway.
No construction timeline or opening date has been announced at this time.
