(COLDWATER) - Michigan has launched a new online dashboard to track a rapidly growing cyclosporiasis outbreak that has now sickened 2,640 people across the state.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reports 44 people have been hospitalized and cases have been identified in 43 counties.

No cases have been reported in Branch County.

The new outbreak webpage and dashboard will update statewide case totals daily by 11 a.m. More detailed data visualizations and regional hospitalization information will be updated each Thursday.

The largest concentration of illnesses remains in southeast Michigan, with Monroe County reporting the highest number of cases.

State health officials and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have not identified a specific grower, supplier or type of produce responsible for the outbreak.

Previous North American cyclosporiasis outbreaks have been linked to imported fresh produce, including bagged salads, cilantro, basil and berries. Michigan health officials are urging restaurants and consumers to wash whole produce thoroughly and watch for severe gastrointestinal symptoms.

The investigation remains ongoing.
