(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana Medicaid members enrolled in the Healthy Indiana Plan will begin receiving text messages about new work requirements taking effect next year.

Beginning Friday, July 31, the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration will periodically text HIP members with general information about the requirements.

Starting January 1, 2027, work requirements will apply to new applicants and existing Medicaid members who are eligible under the Healthy Indiana Plan. The requirements can be met through work, job training, education and community participation.

FSSA says the informational texts will come from the phone number 43816. The messages will not contain or request case information and will not affect an individual's HIP benefits or application.

More information about the HIP work requirements is available through Indiana FSSA.
