GIRARD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLKI)- A 46-year-old Branch County resident is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

The Branch County Sheriff's Office said a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle around 12:21 a.m. on August 30 on Union City Road near Bell Road in Girard Township. The vehicle was reportedly stopped for an equipment violation.

According to the sheriff's office, the deputy activated emergency lights and siren, but the driver did not stop. A pursuit followed before the vehicle eventually came to a stop.

During the investigation, deputies determined the driver's license had been revoked. Authorities also said the vehicle had not been registered since 2023 and was uninsured.

The driver was taken into custody and faces charges of fleeing and eluding police, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and driving while license revoked.

The case remains under review by the Branch County Prosecutor's Office.
