AUBURN (WLKI) - A 14-year-old has died following an off-road vehicle crash Monday evening in DeKalb County.
Indiana Department of Natural Resources conservation officers were called to the 5400 block of County Road 52 near Auburn around 6:38 p.m. for a report of an ORV crash.
Investigators say the teen was operating an off-road minibike and attempted to avoid a collision with a go-kart. The teen was ejected from the minibike.
According to the preliminary investigation, the minibike continued sliding after the teen was thrown from it. It then struck the go-kart before hitting the teen.
The teen was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to authorities.
DNR conservation officers were assisted by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department, Jackson Township Fire Department, Parkview EMS, Indiana State Police and the DeKalb County Coroner's Office.
The crash remains under investigation. The teen's name has not been released. The incident was reported by WPTA.
