Trine To Host Inaugural Community Mental Health Walk

By: Macy Gray • September 18, 2026

ANGOLA, Ind. (WLKI)- Trine University is inviting Steuben County residents, students, alumni and local businesses to take part in its inaugural mental health walk later this month.

The event, called "Breaking the Silence Together," will begin at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. Participants will check in at the MTI Center, where food trucks will be available.

Organizers say the event is intended to promote mental health awareness and well-being while connecting participants with local resources and support services. The program will also encourage conversations about reducing stigma surrounding mental health.

Speakers will include Ryan Sheets, manager of wellness strategy and client services for Cameron Health; Denise Stump, alumni relations committee chair on Trine University's Alumni Association Board of Directors; and Trine student Jonah Kyle.

The event will conclude with a 1.5-mile community walk. Do-it-yourself activities will also be offered, with a focus on self-care, resilience and making mental wellness a daily priority.

A virtual social-media option will be available for students and employees of Trine's College of Graduate and Professional Studies.
