Michigan Fires Head Coach Sherrone Moore Amid Misconduct Investigation

(ANN ARBOR) - The University of Michigan has fired head football coach Sherrone Moore following an internal investigation into an alleged inappropriate relationship with a staff member. Athletic Director Warde Manuel says the university found "credible evidence" of misconduct and enforced its zero-tolerance policy. Biff Poggi has been named interim head coach. Moore took over the Wolverines after Jim Harbaugh's departure to the NFL, leading the program following its 2023 national championship season. Under his contract, Michigan had broad authority to terminate for cause in cases involving misconduct or actions that could damage the university's reputation. Moore was in the second year of a five-year deal worth more than $6 million annually, plus bonuses.
