(BUTLER) - Butler Police are searching for whoever drove through Butler Cemetery and damaged multiple headstones earlier this week.
According to the mayor's Facebook page, the incident happened sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday, when an unknown vehicle left the main drive and struck headstones near the mausoleum. One stone was chipped and another was knocked completely off its base.
Police say they don't yet know whether the damage was intentional or accidental, but failing to report it was, in their words, "poor and distasteful." The Butler Police Department is continuing to gather evidence and is urging the driver to come forward.
