(ANGOLA) - If you're shopping at Meijer this evening, don't be alarmed by the large police presence -- it's the annual Cops for Kids shopping night, bringing holiday joy to families across the area.
A total of 147 children from 93 families will enjoy a special meal prepared by Rick and Kim Gessaman and The Gift of Love organization. Glendarin Hills Golf Club donates the use of its kitchen facilities each year. The celebration begins with dinner at Life Changing Church, where families will gather before heading to Meijer in a parade of flashing police and emergency lights -- a moment many kids never forget.
This year's event was made possible by incredible community generosity: the WLKI Pie Auction on November 26th raised $68,443 in just 8 hours! Donations have now topped $72,000. Organizers want to thank everyone who volunteered and donated to the effort. Because of you, dozens of local children will have a brighter holiday season
