(INDIANA) - Hoosier farmers can once again save money on crop insurance through Indiana's Cover Crop Premium Discount Program.

The Indiana State Department of Agriculture and its partners are offering the program for a sixth year, giving eligible farmers in 89 counties a $5-per-acre discount on crop insurance premiums for planting cover crops. Discounts are available for up to 750 acres per producer.

The program applies to fall-planted cover crops on owned or rented land and is limited to fields not already enrolled in other conservation programs.

New this year: pre-enrollment opens December 15, with full enrollment beginning January 5. Sign-ups are first come, first served, and the deadline is March 15, 2026, or until funding runs out.

The program is partially funded through a Clean Water Indiana grant, with additional support from The Nature Conservancy, Cummins Foundation, and CenterPoint Foundation.

More details and enrollment information are available through the Indiana State Department of Agriculture.
