(WEST LAFAYETTE) - A Purdue University custodian is facing felony charges after allegedly recording a female student while she was showering inside a campus residence hall. Police say Robert Dotson was arrested after a student reported seeing a phone camera pointed at her from behind a shower curtain in a women's bathroom at Shreve Residence Hall. The student screamed for help, and the suspect fled the area. Investigators later reviewed campus security footage and card-swipe records, which led them to Dotson, who had been employed as a custodian at the university for about two months. Police say Dotson worked on the men's side of the residence hall but was seen fleeing the women's bathroom. During an interview with detectives, Dotson allegedly admitted to recording the student for his own sexual gratification and described the incident as a "crime of opportunity." Authorities say three videos of the victim, recorded while she was undressed, were found on his phone. Dotson has been charged with felony voyeurism and misdemeanor possession of THC. He was immediately fired from his job and has been banned from Purdue's West Lafayette campus for five years. The case remains under investigation.
