(DEKALB COUNTY) - A Fort Wayne man escaped injury after a train struck his vehicle when it became stuck on railroad tracks early Friday morning in DeKalb County. The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened just before 3 a.m. as 21-year-old Eldamy Jienez-Revolorio drove south and attempted to cross railroad tracks in a rural area between Butler and St. Joe. Jienez-Revolorio told deputies that the front passenger-side wheel of his 2015 Dodge Charger left the roadway as he crossed the tracks. The car slid sideways and came to rest parallel to the rails. He tried to free the vehicle but could not move it. Jienez-Revolorio got out of the car before a westbound Norfolk Southern train struck it. The train destroyed the vehicle, but no one suffered injuries.

Crews shut down train traffic for about five hours while they cleared debris and inspected the tracks. Deputies worked with the Concord Township Fire Department at the scene.
