(HILLSDALE) - A former Adams Township clerk and a Michigan attorney will stand trial in Hillsdale County Circuit Court over an alleged unauthorized breach of voter data from the 2020 general election.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says the case centers on allegations that former township clerk Stephanie Scott allowed an unauthorized computer examiner access to non-public election information. Scott faces multiple felony charges, including using a computer to commit a crime, misconduct in office, and disobeying orders from the Secretary of State.

Attorney Stefanie Lambert also faces felony charges, including using a computer to commit a crime, unauthorized access, and conspiracy related to the alleged data breach.

Both women were bound over for trial following a recent court hearing. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for January 12.
