(HILLSDALE COUNTY) - A GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched to support an Amish family seriously injured in a horse-drawn buggy crash in Hillsdale County.

The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. on December 21 on Mead Road in Camden Township, when a southbound pickup truck struck the rear of a buggy traveling in the same direction. The buggy was carrying Henry Graber, 32, his wife Katheryn, 31, and their five children.

Graber and two of the children suffered severe injuries and were airlifted to University of Michigan Hospital. According to information shared by organizers, Graber suffered a broken neck, one child has already undergone surgery, and the youngest child remains in critical condition. Other family members were treated for injuries.

Community members organized the fundraiser to help cover mounting medical expenses and to replace the buggy and horse destroyed in the crash. Organizers note that Amish families typically do not carry traditional health insurance, adding to the financial strain.

The fundraiser remains active and continues to accept donations as the family faces a long and uncertain recovery involving multiple surgeries and ongoing care. Here's the link to the family's GoFundMe.
