(DEKALB COUNTY) - Three people were injured in a rear-end crash on Interstate 69 in DeKalb County on Sunday, January 4. DeKalb County Sheriff's Deputies report the crash occurred near the 322-mile marker when a southbound 2011 Honda Accord struck the rear of a southbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. The Honda was driven by 30-year-old Jacob Gersbacher of Pleasant Lake. The Silverado was driven by 37-year-old Kayla Ramirez of Fort Wayne, who reported neck pain at the scene. Two passengers in the Silverado were also injured. Gregory Hackley, 20, of Fort Wayne reported facial pain with an injury to his forehead, and Jose Martinez, 36, of Fort Wayne reported chest pain. Gersbacher told deputies the Silverado appeared suddenly before the collision. Damage to the Honda was estimated at $5,000, while damage to the Silverado was estimated at $3,000. The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by EMS, Central Communications, and Jeff's Towing.
