(ANGOLA) – A suspect is in custody after a shooting incident in Steuben County that injured two adults and a child.
Sergeant Patrick Heidenreich of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources says at 10:45 PM Saturday a 911 call came in about shots being fired in the parking lot at Pokagon State Park in Angola.
The suspect, 25 year old Maung Oker Aung of Fort Wayne, was apprehended immediately after the incident. He is being held in the Steuben County Jail on preliminary charges of battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness, both of which are felonies.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police also were called to the park, along with other police agencies and first responders. The investigation determined there had been an altercation between two men before the shooting happened.
Two men and a 9 year old girl were injured in the shooting. One of the men suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, and is in stable condition at a Fort Wayne hospital. The other man, who is 38 years old, and the 9 year old girl, were injured from bullet fragments.
The incident is still being investigated.
