Large Housing Development Proposed At Old Bledsoe's Mobile Home Park

(ANGOLA) -- A major housing development is being pitched for the former Bledsoe's Lake James Mobile Home Park near Jimmerson Lake.

According to the Herald Republican, plans presented this week call for 115 apartments and 120 townhomes at the site just north of Four Corners on North 300 West.

The proposal could bring housing for more than 200 families and may also include a restaurant and fitness center.

The project was introduced Wednesday during a review by the Steuben Lakes Regional Waste District, which must first determine whether the area's sewer system can handle the added demand.

District officials say the system currently has enough remaining capacity to support significant additional development in the Jamestown Township area.

About 30 people still live in the existing mobile home park.

If the project clears the waste district review, it would then move to the county planning commission before eventually going to the Steuben County Commissioners for final approval.

Some nearby residents are already raising concerns.

One longtime lake resident told the Herald Republican the development could worsen boat traffic on Jimmerson Lake and add more congestion to already narrow county roads around the lake.

The project remains in the early review stages.
