(WATERLOO) - Several DeKalb Central School Board members are being recognized at the state level for their work and professional development.
Valerie Armstrong received the Indiana School Boards Association's Exemplary Governance Award for 2025. She was originally appointed to the board in May 2019 and is one of 59 members statewide to earn the Level 4 distinction this year.
Tony Oneal and Katie Pfister each received the Commendable Governance Award. Both were elected to the board and began their terms in January 2025.
The awards are based on participation in professional development activities, including seminars, workshops, and conferences focused on school governance and leadership.
Recipients were recognized during the ISBA Spring Regional Meeting in Fort Wayne.
School officials say the recognition reflects the board's commitment to student success and continued learning.
