The Fremont Public Library has a month full of events for the community this October!
*Oct. 6-31, Costume Closet
All Ages
Share the spirit of Halloween by donating gently used costumes you no longer need, then browse our collection to discover your perfect look for this year’s celebrations. From spooky to silly, there’s something for everyone. No donation is required to take a costume. It’s a fun, eco-friendly way to give old costumes new life and ensure everyone is ready for Halloween fun.
*Oct. 11, Carved in Memory: Understanding Tombstone Symbols with the Fremont Historical Society
11am-1pm
Discover how cemeteries serve as outdoor history books filled with art, meaning, and memory. After exploring the symbolism behind the stones, enjoy a hands-on workshop making your own mini tombstone magnet to keep the spirit alive!
*Oct. 16, A Toast to Ghosts: Storytelling by Lou Ann Homan
6:00pm, Ages 16+
Step into the shadows and join us for a spine-tingling evening of ghostly tales and eerie encounters. This event promises an unforgettable night filled with chilling narratives that will awaken your deepest fears and curiosities. For ages 16+, these stories are not suitable for children.
*Oct. 17, Wiggle N' Read
10:15am, All Ages
Music, movement, and a story that will have kiddos giggling and wiggling. Registration encouraged: https://forms.gle/toGqNyxxBAZJVJb17
*Oct. 21-29, Pumpkin Decorating Contest
All Ages
Pumpkin pick up is October 16-18, while supplies last. Return decorated pumpkins by October 20. No carved pumpkins please, they will not be accepted. Voting takes place October 21-29, and the winner will be announced October 30. Please collect your pumpkin October 30-31, just in time for Halloween!
*Oct. 27, DIY Discoveries
3:15pm, Grades 4+
Get hands-on and try cool new crafts and experiments each month. Registration encouraged. Sign-up in the Teen Space. October's project is Ghostly 3D Portraits!
