Michigan’s Jobless Rate Up Slightly In February

(LANSING) – Michigan’s jobless rate went up slightly during the month of February.

The Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget says the State’s unemployment rate went from 5.3% in January to 5.4% in February.

Total employment in the State edged up by 2,000 while unemployment increased by 6,000 over the month. Michigan’s workforce advanced by 7,000 during February.

The largest increase in employment from January to February was in Manufacturing (1.1%). Professional and Business Services also went up (0.4%). The biggest losses were seen in Natural Resources and Mining (-1.3%); Leisure and Hospitality Services (-0.7%) and Construction (-0.6%).
